This month celebrates 1 year since the regular monthly updates on my YouTube channel. Unfortunately I didn't realise this until after uploading :D but check it out anyway!!

July, 2016

More progress this month, pace really beginning to pick up now. Check out the update belwo for details :)

June, 2016

Half way through the calender year and things moving on well!!! Take a look!

May, 2016

A little frustrating this month, but still managed to get a little bit done! Check it out :)

April, 2016

Another busy month, with the town actually beginning to look like a town!! With some smaller projects completed I managed to begin building some sets!! Obviously though, the layout is still very much a WIP! Take a look-see for yourself...

March, 2016

March was a very busy month indeed. The new room is all but finished and I started moving sets and LEGO in! Finally, after what felt like forever, the town is beginning to take shape!

February, 2016

The short month saw the room drawing closer and closer to completion. This update though, is more about meeting Brixton Valley's new neighbour!!!

January, 2016

The updates have changed their timing through the month; they'll now be at the end of the month (makes a bit more sense I guess!!). Also, huge changes with the layout!!! Take a looksy if you please!

December, 2015

So throughout November there was a lot going on!! Unfortunately, Brixton Valley came to some what of a stand still, check out the vid to see what's happening!

November, 2015

The last month has seen plenty of change in the city, even though I feel like I have spent more time on the city than in the previous few, it's never enough! But please check it out and let me know what you think in the comments!

October, 2015

It's been another busy month in Brixton Valley. This month's focus has been on the 'other' side of the city, and I have managed to lay down road and train track down, but a serious lack of room is holding things up!

September, 2015

Last month's major triumph was getting the Market Street, 10190 sorted with dark blue bricks for the bottom story and paving the way for a market in Brixton Valley. One side of the city is still a mess but these things take time!

August, 2015

Well after over a year between updates, I finally find time and money to spend with and on the layout. And now updates will be monthly, spoken tours on YouTube! Of course I will add them to the website here once I upload them, but feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel for instant access and the most up to date information.

I have a lot of plans for the future with this layout but as always, money and particularly time are a huge factor. But stay tuned and the updates will keep coming.

April, 2014

While not necessarily a Brixton Valley layout as such, this month saw the coming together of all current modulars to date, including Market Street, 10190. I had just added a new section of bench for the layout to expand and used it to place all of them on it and see what they look like, no MOCs or MODs involved.

November, 2013

As you've probably noticed, the updates have begun to slow down a little. I had a job by this point so less time to spend on the layout, but.... more money to spend!!

And now I had all of the currently available modulars plus the two that were no longer available, it was time to make my own! There were a lot of MODs and one big MOC new to the layout.

I was, and still am very proud of this building. This was my first full 32 x 32 modular MOC and although I have had mixed feed back on the colours and plate facade, I like the look of it and think it works well in my layout. Click here to read more about the Music Shop modular.

The rest of the layout did not change too much, mainly just expanding the amount of modulars and having buildings on either side of the road.

The view the other way And the view back up the main street to the Town Hall, 10224

Although the Town Hall, 10224, was the last modular I had bought by that time, (the last of all available at that time) I did really enjoy the build and the building itself has grown on me, there isn't a modular set I do not like, even the 2015's Detective's Office, 10246 has grown on me after initally not particularly being blown away by the facade. Anyway, tangent over...

July, 2013

Another huge update this month, given there were actually three months for accumulation and building. The main street was looking very modularised much to my delight, I had several new trains, and several MOCs and MODs to show off. Very exciting time for the people of Brixton Valley.

Main street in July, 2013 Lots of new modulars and changes to the layout in July 2013

There were several extremely exciting things happening at this point that was blowing my mind, but the stand out was probably the introduction of the Bricklinked Green Grocer, 10185. I know earlier, I said the Pet Shop, 10218, was my favourite modular, but 10185 is sublime! Looking at exterior on its own, this is hands down my favourite, it's a shame they hadn't thought to put a bit more effort into the interiors yet, although, having said that, the bottom floor Green Grocer section is a highlight of the set.

Picture on its way! Picture on its way!

The second most exciting thing was a surprise I could have never have guessed! As mentioned before, when I was growing up I never got a train, despite the thousands of dollars my parent probably spent on my collection. I always wanted the classic Metroliner, 4558 and the accompanying Clubcar, 4547. These at that point were the opitome of LEGO City sets. And all these years later they are still arguably the best standard City train sets ever released. Much to my huge surprise and gratefulness, a gentlemen who had seen my online presence on ANZFOL and Eurobricks decided he liked my style and layout and organised to GIVE me his 4558 and 4547!!! All complete and still with boxes and everything!! All my Christmases had come at once!! You know who you are if you're reading this, I am forever grateful!!!

While we're talking trains, I also made forray into the Creator trains: Emerald Night, 10194 and the Mearsk Train, 10219. The Emerald Night in particular was an amazing build and is probably my favourite LEGO train so far (November, 2015).

Emerald Night, 10194 with extra carriage My eventual attempt at adding a carriage to 10194, but avoiding buying the expensive tan windows

And finally, July saw the creation of my sigfig, first seen enjoying a coffee at the famous Cafe Corner.

April, 2013

April saw the opening of a new business in the township of Brixton Valley. The ever changing 'Main Street' became home to a Bricklinked Cafe Corner, 10182. The hours spent pouring over the computer screen on Bricklink, finding the right bricks, (and sometimes the wrong ones) had finally paid off.

Bricklinked Cafe Corner, 10182 My original Bricklinked Cafe Corner, 10182. Note the red windows on the top story.

I could barely believe I now had one of these in my layout, albeit a 'fake' one. There is a certain magic about this set, I rue the fact that I was still in my dark ages when this was released, but I really hope LEGO never re-release this set. Yes, I would love to own an instruction manual and box for this masterpiece, but there's something about being there the first time around that shouldn't be taken away from those people who were.

My final Cafe Corner, 10182 The final Cafe Corner, the red windows started to bug me, but I didn't spring for the expensive 'real' ones.
Interior for Cafe Corner, 10182 I also made an interior, the one thing missing from this iconic LEGO set, Click the pic to head to the flickr album for more images of the interior.

And the new Cafe Corner wasn't the only new business in town. I had done extensive modification work to the Town Plan, 10184, Cinema, including bringing it in line with the modular standard, but more of that to come and you can also check the MOD section of the website for more info.

Things were looking very pleasing for Brixton Valley's main street, with plenty more buildings on their way!

March, 2013

March was the month of the modular! This month I had racked up the frequent flyer miles on Bricklink and had ordered a second hand Pet Shop, 10218. Probably still my favourite modular so far (as at November 2015), I found the build like nothing I had built before with LEGO. The Town Plan, 10184, which I had purchased also second hand a month or so prior, was short lived at the top of my Best. Build. Ever. list. I still love the cinema from 10184, but the Pet Shop is something special.

Modular expansions Modular expansions

As you can see, I could not stop at the Pet Shop. I found a good deal on the Fire Brigade, 10197, and the Grand Emporium, 10211. The Grand Emporium was one of the sets that really impressed me when I first saw it in layouts after coming out of my dark age. While I do still love the exterior of the building and the look it has in the any layout, I think the build and interior leave a lot to be desired. The Fire Brigade was an excellent build and I love its look too. Fortunately there isn't a modular I haven't liked so far.

February, 2013

This month was the first month Brixton Valley was in its new more secure location. The previous month the layout had been under the garage patio, which was completely open to the elements and anyone who wandered up the drive way. Obviously this was not very safe, nor did it allow for much room for expansion, so I found a 'room' under the house that I could stand in and set to work building a bench top for the layout to sit on.

The train finally arrives The train finally arrives

As you can see, by this point I had added quite a few 'new' sets to the layout, including my first ever train! This was the beginnings of something that maybe my wallet had hoped I hadn't started...

January, 2013

January, 2013 saw the first layout of Brixton Valley, albeit not yet named or knowing what this small layout would become.

As you can see from the video, at this point what was to become Brixton Valley was almost exclusively made up of classic 90s sets I had collected as kid. So many amazing sets which I loved building and setting up in layouts from a very young age.

I think my favourite set from that era was the Gas 'N Wash Express, 6472.
